Start with the tax reason

An ITIN application is more than a passport and a form.

The IRS requires a valid federal tax purpose, the correct Form W-7 reason, acceptable identification, and—usually—a federal income tax return. We review how those pieces fit together before the package is submitted.

ITIN services for individuals and families

Choose the path that matches your situation.

NEW ITIN

Apply for an ITIN

A structured review of your tax reason, Form W-7, identity documents, and the federal tax return or exception documentation connected to the application.

RENEWAL

Renew an expired ITIN

We review whether renewal is needed, identify the affected family members, and organize the W-7 and supporting documents for submission.

FAMILY

Spouse or dependent applications

Individual review for spouses and dependents, including the documentation rules that apply to the applicant and the claimed tax benefit.

TAX FILING

Coordinate the ITIN and tax return

When a tax return is required, the application and return are prepared as one coordinated filing rather than two disconnected tasks.

Why work with a CAA?

A guided document process under IRS rules.

01

Eligibility review

We identify the W-7 reason, determine whether a tax return or an exception may apply, and provide a tailored checklist.

02

Document authentication

As a Certifying Acceptance Agent, we may authenticate qualifying identity documents when permitted by the IRS, subject to the rules for each applicant.

03

Coordinated submission

We organize Form W-7, the Certificate of Accuracy when applicable, and the related tax filing or exception documents into one submission package.

A CAA must possess the original identification documents or certified copies from the issuing agency during the required interview when authenticating them. Authentication rules differ for certain documents and dependent applicants.

A clear ITIN process

Know what happens before anything is sent to the IRS.

  1. 01

    Complete an eligibility review

Tell us why the ITIN is needed and who is applying. We identify the likely W-7 path and confirm the scope.

  2. 02

    Gather the correct documents

You receive a case-specific checklist for identity, foreign status, tax filing, and any applicable exception.

  3. 03

    Interview, authenticate, and prepare

We complete the required CAA interview and document review, then prepare the W-7 package and associated tax work.

  4. 04

    Submit and monitor

The organized package is sent to the IRS. We explain expected next steps and help interpret correspondence connected to the engagement.

ITIN questions

What applicants commonly ask before starting.

What is an ITIN?

An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number is a federal tax-processing number issued by the IRS to certain people who need a U.S. taxpayer identification number but are not eligible for a Social Security number.

Can a Certifying Acceptance Agent review my passport?

A CAA may authenticate qualifying identification documents under IRS rules and submit a Certificate of Accuracy with Form W-7. Different rules apply to some documents and to dependent applications, so each case must be reviewed individually.

Can the entire process be completed remotely?

The initial discussion and preparation may often begin remotely. IRS rules require the CAA to conduct an interview and possess the original documents or certified copies from the issuing agency when authentication is performed. We will explain the secure document process for your case.

Do I need to file a tax return with Form W-7?

Usually, Form W-7 is submitted with a valid federal income tax return. Limited IRS exceptions exist and require specific supporting documentation. We first identify the tax reason that applies to you.

Does an ITIN authorize me to work in the United States?

No. An ITIN is for federal tax purposes. It does not authorize employment, change immigration status, or make someone eligible for a Social Security number.

Can you guarantee that the IRS will issue my ITIN?

No. The IRS decides every application. We provide careful preparation, document review, CAA services when applicable, and clear communication—but no ethical provider can guarantee approval or processing time.
